Fish Darwin fishing charters owner and skipper, Shaun Uden, found a new fishing mark last November that he thought could be a wreck. As a keen diver and always on the look out for wrecks, Shaun noticed that the footage on his fishing sounder looked suspiciously man made. So after waiting for the right tides and weather condition, Shaun and his mate Jim Miles, headed down into the deep blue to investigate. As you can see they were very excited to discover that it was in fact a wreck. An old fishing vessel lay up right on the seabed. Approximately 60 foot in length, the wreck was surrounded by amazing fish life and was covered in coral. There was liitle to no evidence of fishing on the wreck and thus it is in great condition. Unfortunately there was no telltale names, signs or dates to help identify the wreck and there was extensive growth on the vessel to indicate that it had been there a long time. Shaun has now discovered 4 wrecks in the Darwin region.
